Manners of Masjid “House of Allah”

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ وَصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ وَعَلَى جَمِيعِ الأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالْمُرْسَلِينَ.

All Praise is due to Allah, we praise Him and we seek help from Him. We ask forgiveness from Him. We repent to Him; and we seek refuge in Him from our own evils and our own bad deeds. Anyone who is guided by Allah, he is indeed guided; and anyone who has been left astray, will find no one to guide him. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the Only One without any partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad, peace and blessings on him, is His servant, and His messenger.

Dear Brothers and Sisters …

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

اِنَّمَا یَعْمُرُ مَسٰجِدَ اللّٰهِ مَنْ اٰمَنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْیَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَاَقَامَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتَی الزَّكٰوةَ وَلَمْ یَخْشَ اِلَّا اللّٰهَ فَعَسٰۤی اُولٰٓىِٕكَ اَنْ یَّكُوْنُوْا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِیْنَ ۟

The mosques of Allah should only be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and fear none but Allah. It is right to hope that they will be among the ˹truly˺ guided. (Quran 9:18)

وَّاَنَّ الْمَسٰجِدَ لِلّٰهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوْا مَعَ اللّٰهِ اَحَدًا ۟

The places of worship are ˹only˺ for Allah, so do not invoke anyone besides Him. 72:18.

All praise is due to Allah who sent the messengers and revealed the Divine Laws that contain people’s interests during their lives and after their death. And in it, He taught them the best etiquette and the most beautiful manners.

صِبْغَةَ اللَّهِ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ صَبْغَةً وَنَحْنُ لَهُ عَابِدُونَ

Al Baqarah (2) 138: [This is] the religion of Allah. And who is better than Allah in [ordaining] religion? And we are worshippers of Him.”

So today the topic is very important it is about the Manners of the Masjid, and for best understanding of the Manners and etiquettes of House of Allah is mentioned in the following hadith.

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَحَبُّ الْبِلَادِ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَسَاجِدُهَا وَأَبْغَضُ الْبِلَاد إِلَى الله أسواقها» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم

Abu Huraira reported God’s Messenger as saying, “The parts of the land dearest to God are its mosques, and the parts most hateful to God are its markets.” Mishkat al-Masabih 696.

Now the question is how we can give respect to this. To start on this first I have to say again “The places of worship are ˹only˺ for Allah, so do not invoke anyone besides Him. 72:18.”

But here situation is different which started from the era of Taibeen witnessed by Sahab may Allah please with them.

Ume Darda May Allah be pleased with her said: Abu Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) came to me in state of anger. I asked him who make you angry. He said – by Allah I cannot see anything according to Ordered/Sunnah of Rasool Allah (ﷺ)except they read prayer in congregation. (Musnad Ahmed: 353).

It is same from Ans Bin Malik May Allah be please with him, we use to follow Rasool Allah (ﷺ). Today we do not see anything. We said, so where is Salat? Ans Said did you not pray the way you know what you did. (Musnad Ahmed: 351).

Why all this happened because people left the sunnah of Rasool Allah saw and bring the innovation and Lies in the Deen.

Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar.” Sahih al-Bukhari 6094

Brother and sisters, you heard how Sahaba were worried and angry to see the people left the sunnah of Rasool Allah saw. Why it got so much worse because we lost the manners of house of Allah, and make this place bring the lies, innovations, and bundles of rubbish books rather Lesson from Quran and teaching of Prophet Muhammad Saw.

Why we have double standard, we give so much respect, values of our own house for example if some tell lies we hate and try to fix this ASAP and when someone sitting in the House of Allah brining the Lies and innovations, we accept this, even today we do not bother who is coming for lesson? is his preference Rasool Allah saw? Or because he is famous in good speech, and we follow him because we like him?

But respect of House of Allah is only about, “Allah and Muhammad saw”. Nothing is acceptable beside this. Era of Khilafah, the Sahaba do not quote anyone except Rasool Allah s.a.w. and if any sahabi found by other sahahbi doing a different action he will always question him why you have done this.

For the Manners/Respect and protection of Masjid most responsibilities are on the Masjid organizers and the Imam who allowed such people bringing Lies, innovations, made up stories rather the Sunnah of Rasool Allah saw.

Unfortunately, now days it is not happening, Masjed organisers give the preference on their own likeminded or groups regardless of whatever they are saying without verifications. Even you will find the books in the House of Allah which is based on made up stories.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah upon him, said: ‘Do not lie upon me; indeed, whoever lies upon me will enter the Fire’. Sahih Muslim 1

So please give respect to the Masjid, the House of Allah, Fear Allah and follow the Sunnah of Rasool Allah saw. Verify with the hadith, each step and in every matter, you are doing, especially in the Ibadat Namaz, now days Knowledge is in everyone fingertips and no excuse will be accepted. Remember whoever follows blindly and will not verified himself, according to all 4 Maslak scholars’ sayings that this is will be on his own shoulder.

In the end I leave the question with the answers for you, how many people know about their Namaz according to Sahih hadith, how long it takes to check with Rasool Allah saw and when you check, you find the correct hadith just follow without if and buts or what the people will say.

In a great Hadith Rasool Allah saw said: always one Jamaat will be on the Truth, in the Deen. Those who oppose them will not be able to afflict them any harm. Until Allah’s order comes upon them, and they are still on that truth. (Musnad Ahmed: 327).

I conclude with this and send prayers of blessings and peace upon our Prophet as your Lord commanded:

Allahumma Sallai Al’a Muahmmad’n wa’aila Muhammad

أَقُولُ مَا تَسْمَعُونَ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ  لِي وَلَكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ  إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
